"In the beginning, God made the sea, but on the 7th day he made me." - Prince Rogers Nelson Prolific. Regal. Incomparable. Nasty. Charitable. Enigmatic. The recent loss of Prince drove a stake through the hearts of all who love music and celebrating life. On June 7th, he would've turned just 58, roughly the same number of instruments he shredded. I've been lucky enough to lead classes at Makara Studio during their Friday Yoga + Food series. The congregation of Yogis, ready to end their week with a fun asana flow, then sharing of stories, laughs and chatter over a wonderful meal is a prime way to get in the community, meet people and find a spot away from home you can call "home." YogaCity NYC featured an evening with the homies at Makara a few weeks back. Big thanks to Jim Catapano for attending and the write-up. Read the story here: http://www.yogacitynyc.com/#!The-First-Friday-Feast/c1m6q/561a93480cf2c3576e58029e I'll be at Makara again on October 20th for some vinyasa, starting at 12 pm. Hope to see you soon, Victor A few days have passed since The Yoga Room's house party event… and I'm still in awe of how awesome the vibe was and how stunning it was to see that many bodies moving, having fun and decked out in glow bracelets. On Friday, Dina Ivas, DJ Shisaa and myself, took over Workout Factory over in Long Island City, hosting an epic yoga rave. Pre-class excitement got into me as eager yogis filed in. As soon as the class started, we were all in our element. I want to send a big thank you shout-out to Dina Ivas for conducting the evening festivities with me. Massive thanks and a "BIG-UP!" to Anna Morgan -aka- DJ Shisaa, for cranking some dope beats on the 1s and 2s. For all the yogis that showed up… UNBELIEVABLE! All of you rock. We've already had a few attendees asked, "When's the next one?" We'll keep you updated on plans for another one. Here's a slideshow of some of the night's happenings: I want to extend a big thanks to amNY for promoting the event, The Yoga Room and Workout Factory for hosting and all the amazing participants.

Check out my schedule here: http://www.yogawithvictor.com/schedule.html Peace & Love, V ![]() I was welcomed back to Intermediate School 204 the last few weeks for more yoga and meditation. Back in April, I introduced yoga and meditation to many students at that school, as part of the City Year after school program. This time around, leadership and development specialist for Beacon, Ms. Kaychell, invited me back. The students moved, breathed and relaxed their way into varying yoga postures. During the sessions, I grounded the students early in the practice, facilitating their active engagement in breathe control and relaxing the body and mind. We then moved into "heat building" poses to wake-up and invigorate the body. The ensuing poses were balancing asanas to dive deeply into their focus and enhance their body awareness. At the close of each practice, a few minutes of silence, in savasana (corpse pose), left the students in internal bliss. The smiles on their faces and the effort put into engaging in these poses were outstanding. The mats provided were cut out of fabric from MFTA (Materials for the Arts). Students from varying schools attended these sessions at I.S 204, including P.S 112 & I.S 126. I would like to extend a special thanks to everyone involved and to those that initiated these great afternoons. I'll definitely see all of you again in the Spring. Can't wait to see the staff and the students, and their beautiful smiles. Peace & love, Victor ![]() Check it out ... new business cards!
