Every time they turn the lights down Just wanna go that extra mile for you You got my display of affection Feels like no one else in the room (but you) -- Britney Spears, Gimme Last night, there was yoga, dancing and feel good vibes at Workout Factory in Long Island City. House Party 3.0 jumped off with a gang of yogis flowing on and off their mats with classic tracks as the backdrop to a night of asana action. Special shout out to my co-host for the evening, Dina Ivas, who made everyone "roar" and delivered another memorable sequence to get everyones appetite primed for post-yoga libations. Big thank you to Giuseppe for the vino and Jim Catapano from Yoga City NYC for covering the event. The biggest hugs and grandest thanks from Dina & myself go to the crew that showed up to get DIRTY with us on their mats. To everyone who came through... MUCH LOVE FROM US, TO YOU! Dina Ivas & Vicyasa will tandem for another Yoga House Party -- OH YEAH, more glow sticks, asana action, fun flow and post class libations! It will be version 3.0... we did the House music thang, we traveled back to the 1980s, & now we are going to hit-up Boy Bands & Pop Stars. Registration as always at The Yoga Room's website, on their workshop section. Reserve your spot before it goes BYE, BYE, BYE! If you are a friend... and want to drop in to any of my classes at Earth Yoga, Makara Studio, Prana or Yumcha, let me know. We can arrange to get you into the class as my guest. It will be my pleasure. Peace out Ohmies! Vic
We started with some cat poses, attempted some trees and rested in savasana with friendly felines circling our rested bodies. It was a fun time at the Meow Parlour -- a 45 minutes mindful flow while free roaming cats looked on at the invaders that transcended yoga shapes in the cat playground.
It was a pleasure leading a group of wonderful yogis through an asana practice and even more fun hanging out with them post-class and enjoying some playful times with the adoptable cats. But prior to that, as if someone cued the inhabitants of the Meow Parlour, our four legged friend sabotaged the mighty tree poses and took a few down with their cuteness and ownership of space. We didn't end with a roaring ohm, but with a playful "MEOW." Thanks to the cool peeps there, Amy Apgar and the wonderful yogis who sold out this event. Future dates at this venue will be announced as they roll in. Don't forget; Sept. 18th, I hook up with Dina Ivas again for our second Yoga 'House Party' -- the theme this time… the 1980s. REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT HERE. We're also heading up to Heathen Hill for a Halloween retreat in October; yoga classes, spooky themed events, seasonal fun, awesome meals and a chill weekend before we hit the Winter months. For more information, click here. We're back! Oh... and this time, Dina Ivas and myself are bringing the 80s with us.
Here are the details: Friday, September 18th with class starting at 8:30 pm, we'll flow for an hour, with the soundtrack of the 1980s uplifting the crew through the practice. Have fun, wear some funky and then join us afterwards for some post-class libations. Check out the flyer above with more info. Are you a cat person? Want to practice asana surrounded by some fine feline friends? Then join me on September 8th for a Cat-tastic class at Meow Parlour -- New York City's only cat café. The hour and a half session includes 45 minutes of yoga, 15 minutes of cool down/relaxation and 30 minutes quality kitty hangout time (the amount of allotted time for a regular scheduled visit). The adoptable free roaming cats while mindfully moving around the yoga mat will add a element of relaxation and playful exploration. Register online for the class here: http://www.meowparlour.com/reservation. Halloween is the perfect time to give yourself permission to let loose. Escape the costumed crowds and join Dina Ivas & Victor Cotto for a spooktacular weekend of yoga, fun, tricks and treats! Enjoy 3 feel-good yoga flow classes with some Halloween flavor (…who knows, we might bust out some of the moves from Thriller!). Be bewitched by the beautiful fall foliage as we carve jack-o-lanterns and indulge in apple pie and other seasonal goodies. Cozy up around the bonfire and share ghost stories while toasting s’mores. Feel free to get in the spirit and bring a costume that you can move in if you are feeling festive. Costumes NOT required. This retreat is friendly to all levels, including beginners. Everyone is welcome. Make this a Halloween to remember and join us if you dare! Check out Heathen Hill's web site for photos. CLICK HERE. Includes Food, Yoga, Accommodation and FUN! BYOB.
