“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” As we enter a new year, take some time to set your personal intentions. Pause to connect with yourself and remember you are already whole.
The journey of yoga is not about “fixing” ourselves, but rather one of reconnecting with our inherently exquisite selves — our wholeness. Practice setting intentions. A definition of intention is defined as “a determination to act in a certain way: resolve. What one intends to do or bring about.” But also as “a process or manner of healing of wounds.” This is at the heart of yoga and meditation practices; we are learning that we always have a choice about how we step into the moment. Pause to connect with yourself and remember you are already whole - grace, strength, joy and wholeness is always within. Set a tone for 2022... commit to intentions in your daily practice. And then, may you do it again and again…all year round. YELP REVIEWS... Yogis, we would love it if you can leave us a review on our official YELP page CLICK HERE. Been a member for awhile? “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.” – Eckhart Tolle As we move into the new year, our mind inevitably fixates on some variation of goal-setting, intentions, a mantra for the year, planning, or reflection. The start of 2022 invites us both to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Strangely, we often forget to spend a little time on the most important of the three-time states: the present. The now. Getting into yoga mode.
Continue to cultivate an awareness of the moment, set strong foundations through your practice to the goal setting into the new year becomes attainable and highly achievable. It’s the actions chosen in each present moment that determine how the future unfolds. It’s your relationship to the past that determines how those present-moment actions get chosen. The present moment brings us peace, clarity, and stability. And it is only with peace, clarity, and stability that we can tolerate the power of our own potential. ON DEMAND... NAMASTE, Victor Cotto www.YogaWithVictor.com Instagram: CottoVic Facebook: Yoga With Victor - Vicyasa™ "Gratitude has a way of bringing us into the present moment, allowing us to be with what is. Our mind is no longer chasing after something in the future or lingering somewhere in the past. We are content." — Birgitte Kristen Many of my teachers speak about cultivating the qualities that nurture us. There are infinite qualities that exist within us—such as courageousness, empathy, creativity, anger, hurt, pain, excitement, jealousy, hope, peace, understanding—and each one may arise throughout the day.
Which qualities can you cultivate to find peace in our lives this holiday season; the qualities that allow us to be present and fully engaged in the moment. Cultivating, focusing on, to read about, to listen to, to observe, to foster those qualities of appreciation, gratitude, understanding, and compassion within us, allows our mind to be at peace. I am grateful to be teaching. I am grateful for all that Yoga has taught me, and is teaching me moment to moment. As a teacher, I'm always yearning for wisdom in order to articulate and be clear in conveying this tangible, yet not so tangible thing called yoga. As a person, we are always striving to be happy, to be content with who we are as a person. I am grateful for who I have become as a person. I have work to do—I am still working on relationships with others—but, so far, I like me. Many blessings to the yoga community. May we all grow together. DINA IS BACK... (and Tanya) Flow with Dina Ivas on Thursday night... as she's back on the schedule for a 45-minute Vinyasa session. Next week... Tanya Mgrdechian will be back for some Pilates. THE GIFT OF YOGA... NAMASTE, Victor Cotto www.YogaWithVictor.com Instagram: CottoVic Facebook: Yoga With Victor - Vicyasa™ “Practicing yoga is like being on a body holiday” Slowing down is easier said than done. Our holiday schedule is filled to the brim with activities; work, school, cooking, cleaning, organizing and preparing to make the season a joyful experience for others… Most days are planned in advance and are busy. So when the pace changes, we have a natural hesitance to shift down a gear.
Taking a step back just for a moment, pausing to practice... can help you enjoy every minute of the holiday. Find a quiet space in the house where you can reset. Remind yourself of the things that are blessings for you on and off the yoga mat. Then remind yourself it doesn’t matter if things aren’t done perfectly; embrace falling out of a pose, be ok with where you meet your true self on the mat for that moment and bask in your yoga. Then we can remember to take a step back, slow down, enjoy the pace of gathering with friends and family, and be right there, in the moment, together. THE GIFT OF YOGA...
