“Meditation is music of the mind that lets every cell fall asleep with refreshing joy.” The practice of flow or Vinyasa is a dynamic practice that fits both fitness junkies and spiritual seekers. It is an incredibly satisfying sweaty surrender and a meditative experience. The ideal pace to perform a Vinyasa is the natural pace of our breath: not intentionally slower pace or a puffed, overly drained breath. Vinyasa is when we move naturally, inhaling into one shape and exhaling into another.
One of the many reasons we love it so much is that flowing through a sequence for a while can feel very meditative. When we transition to one posture on our inhale and straight away to another on the next exhale, we leave no room for external thoughts and we are completely within our own mind-body flow state. This is, for me, one of the most satisfying parts of my practice. I can land in the moment and make every moment in class a glorious moment. And that complete immersion into your body, the profound awareness... It's meditative. It's yoga! YOGA AT OHHHMMM VIRTUAL SCHEDULE: MONDAY: 2/7/2022

“Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.” To reap the benefits of a yoga practice, we must practice only for ourselves and no one else. Each of us needs something distinct from our yoga practice because each yogi’s body & mind is unique.
Some of us are more lengthier. Some of us are blessed with strong arms. Some of us have a history of dance or athletics with an innate sense of balance. But no two of us have the same genetic composition. Nor do we have the same history; life experiences, injury background, childbirth, or conditioning, all which contribute to the individuality of our body and mind. And yet it is so easy to compare ourselves! When we compare our own practice to that of others we lose the personal connection to our body that is so integral to the practice of yoga. To get the most out of our practice, we need to be in touch with how our body is responding to each pose. This is called the mind-body connection. Only you can know your own body. You can listen to yourself in a way that no one else can -- not even your yoga teacher! You can enter a posture and notice if it creates undue tension in certain parts of your body. Then, you can adjust yourself to accomodate your needs. When we begin to listen to our bodies we realize that our needs are simply that: needs. They are no better or worse than anyone else’s. To create the most joy on and off our mats, we must embrace our individuality and look after the person we know best: ourselves. ON DEMAND... To live each one is to succeed.” – Coreta Kent The journey to self-awakening, the realization of how remarkably far you have come is an enlightening moment that fills our heart with hope. Often right after - I do it often - we immediately follow that up with depressing realizations of how heartbreakingly far there is yet to go.
This is not the moment to abandon hope, but to take stock of the amazing power of the present moment. There is so much power in the experience of the "NOW" -- the present moment -- that whole spiritual disciplines have been created solely to bring us into the "now." Practicing yoga is a powerful tool that sharpens our mind so that we can see reality clearly. It is more profound than a stretching routine that helps you get limber. In essence the yoga practice seeks to answer the question of what defines the present moment and help root your consciousness directly in it. Daily yoga practice demands that we remain observant and attentive while feeling your body. Presence in yoga is grounded in the reality of the body because the body doesn't lie or delude in the same way as the mind. When your body is engaged, it helps everything else come into a present sense of awareness. There’s a lot of neuroscience that supports this. Let's spend a little more time being present with the moment—present with yourself—and know to live each moment is to bask in the glory of life. ON DEMAND... Just a reminder... The mind-body connection is profound.
Yoga has been around for thousands of years, and has been used to help people find peace, healing, and well-being in their lives. The postures (asanas) that we take are often symbolic of the feelings and messages we’d like to convey, whether that’s love, openness, courage, or something else. The mind, body, and spirit are all components that are central to holistic practice, because those three entities are what make up each person’s overall happiness, health, and well-being. By building the mind-body connection, the spirit can too become more intact with a person’s needs, wants, desires, and life purpose. Building these takes time, but yoga is an excellent place to begin. YOGA AT OHHHMMM VIRTUAL SCHEDULE: MONDAY: 1/10/2022

Pause to connect with yourself and remember you are already whole.
The journey of yoga is not about “fixing” ourselves, but rather one of reconnecting with our inherently exquisite selves — our wholeness. Practice setting intentions. A definition of intention is defined as “a determination to act in a certain way: resolve. What one intends to do or bring about.” But also as “a process or manner of healing of wounds.” This is at the heart of yoga and meditation practices; we are learning that we always have a choice about how we step into the moment. Pause to connect with yourself and remember you are already whole - grace, strength, joy and wholeness is always within. Set a tone for 2022... commit to intentions in your daily practice. The start of 2022 invites us both to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Strangely, we often forget to spend a little time on the most important of the three-time states: the present. The now. Getting into yoga mode.
Continue to cultivate an awareness of the moment, set strong foundations through your practice to the goal setting into the new year becomes attainable and highly achievable. It’s the actions chosen in each present moment that determine how the future unfolds. It’s your relationship to the past that determines how those present-moment actions get chosen. NAMASTE, Victor Cotto www.YogaWithVictor.com Instagram: CottoVic Facebook: Yoga With Victor - Vicyasa™ "An attitude of gratitude brings great things." -- Yogi Bhajan The gratitude we embody during our yoga is mostly about our state of mind. It concerns making a conscious effort to incorporate thankfulness into lifestyle. This can be done in a variety of ways: through setting an intention at the beginning of the day, before you begin your practice, or as part of your meditation.
If we remind ourselves to be grateful for what we do have, we lose the negative impressions that often take up our head uninvited. By selecting a tone of thankfulness, that fear, sadness, anxiety, and even anger gets pushed aside and our gratitude makes room for strength, happiness, confidence, and peace. The term gratitude yoga is not limited to the mat. We all can demonstrate appreciation through all areas of our life. Let’s begin with the one day of the year that speaks to gratitude more than any other holiday out there,...Thanksgiving. Yoga is the journey of the self. If we connect our heart and soul to our practice, it can help us to learn life lessons and to embrace changes in the workplace or elsewhere with a lot more ease. The transition toward the cooler Autumn season allows us to harness our energy and create a calmer, more regular rhythm for optimal health during the upcoming Fall and Winter. Poses like tree and warriors (1,2,3) are wonderful poses to find balance and help us accept all the challenges and changes with grace and dignity. The winds of change blow strong in the fall, but if we can learn to be steady and well grounded like in tree, and also sway with the wind without resisting it, we will be resilient like a warrior. While the tree pose teaches us to get the right balance between steadiness and swaying, the warrior pose teaches us to be ready for everything. What gives strength to the tree against the wind is its roots. While pursuing our dreams, challenging times may come. But if we remain rooted with our yogic values, they will provide us necessary support and strength to power through seasonal shifts. ON-DEMAND CLASSES Moving forward, all unlimited members will have access to a library of pre-recorded classes as part of their subscription.
