![]() I was welcomed back to Intermediate School 204 the last few weeks for more yoga and meditation. Back in April, I introduced yoga and meditation to many students at that school, as part of the City Year after school program. This time around, leadership and development specialist for Beacon, Ms. Kaychell, invited me back. The students moved, breathed and relaxed their way into varying yoga postures. During the sessions, I grounded the students early in the practice, facilitating their active engagement in breathe control and relaxing the body and mind. We then moved into "heat building" poses to wake-up and invigorate the body. The ensuing poses were balancing asanas to dive deeply into their focus and enhance their body awareness. At the close of each practice, a few minutes of silence, in savasana (corpse pose), left the students in internal bliss. The smiles on their faces and the effort put into engaging in these poses were outstanding. The mats provided were cut out of fabric from MFTA (Materials for the Arts). Students from varying schools attended these sessions at I.S 204, including P.S 112 & I.S 126. I would like to extend a special thanks to everyone involved and to those that initiated these great afternoons. I'll definitely see all of you again in the Spring. Can't wait to see the staff and the students, and their beautiful smiles. Peace & love, Victor

![]() The early morning practice... that's a doozy! Some months ago, I had a lil' fun with tips and suggestions on things you can do to get your asana on in the early morning hours. Click this link for that! Every Friday, wake-up, stretch, power-up and plant the seeds to a great weekend with an invigorating hot vinyasa class at The Yoga Room (LIC location). I'll see you at 7 am sharp. Peace, Vic ![]() It rained all day today... and then we started practicing at Makara Studio. Once the 90-minute sweat-fest was over, the rain stopped and a studio full of yogis went on their way to enjoy the rest of their weekend. Again, it was a true pleasure leading the donation vinyasa class today. Big shout out to all the hardcore yogis who weathered the storm to get their asana action. Tomorrow, I'll be at Earth Yoga NYC for a 75-minute hot vinyasa flow. Oh, that's at 10 am. So before you head out for brunch and a lil' football, get the day started right with me at one of the finest hot studios in NYC. Enjoy your weekend, Vic ![]() I'm back... Saturday afternoon, October 11th, I'll be back at Makara Studio leading another 90-minutes of Vinyasa flow. Last Saturday, we rocked the house and today, during my weekly donation based Friday class, the level of heat in there was taken to another level. So here's the info: tomorrow, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, I'll be subbing. It's donation based... "Anyone who wants to practice yoga should be able to! This class is intended for people who can't afford $15 (our drop in rate) on a regular basis. Emphasis will be placed on learning sequences and counter poses so that students can create a safe home practice. Suggested donation is $10 or something of equal or greater value in exchange for class. An equal exchange of energy is essential to receiving the benefits from your teacher and practice." - Makara Studio So you got the info... are you showing up? Show up, then SHOW UP! Peace & Love, Vic |
