“You are never alone. You are eternally connected with everyone.” When we are grounding & anchoring in our poses through the strength of our muscles and into the deepest depths of our bones, we are one with the Earth. Like water, we have the ability to flow, adapt, act selflessly, and avoid unhealthy attachments. The fire in us brings us confidence and courage; the energy of metabolism, drive, and creativity. We are vessels for clear communication and self-expression like air/wind. We can create space; a container for all the other elements and the source of intuition and wisdom from the universe.
With our practice, we are eternally connected to everything and everyone. YOGA AT OHHHMMM VIRTUAL SCHEDULE: (Hot in-person, Outdoor Classes/Events this week for active subscribers only - times and days not indicated on schedule) MONDAY: 5/10/2021

"When I stopped to pay attention to where my breathing was deep and settled, the truth began to emerge from the mist " To many, Yoga is an exercise to contort the body into peculiar poses. However in reality, the physical poses are a very small component of what is a full-spectrum spiritual practice.
Conscious breathing creates the deep mind-body connection that makes yoga so beneficial for calming the mind and understanding the self. In the yogic tradition, the breath is thought to carry a person's life force. Pranayama, or breathing exercises, are believed to clear the emotional and physical obstacles within us to free up life force (prana) and extend (ayama) our lives. Experiment with your breath this week to see how your practice evolves when you let the breath take lead. It will open you up to some new experiences both on and off the mat. PAYMENT: VENMO -- @Vicyasa Paypal -- [email protected] The team thanks you all for the support! NAMASTE, Victor Cotto www.YogaWithVictor.com Instagram: CottoVic Facebook: Yoga With Victor - Vicyasa™ Babette Godefroy is back for her fun, creative and challenging vinyasa class on Tuesday March 9th, 2021. She'll explore advanced postures and challenge beginner and advanced yogis with options galore. If you're interested in advancing your practice with a deeper exploration of arm balances, inversions or asanas that you have been wanting to play in... then this is for you!
Here is part-two of our Q&A with one of the newer teachers on the Vicyasa™ platform: QUESTION: What are challenging poses for you? What pose are you looking to advance in? BABETTE: "Most challenging pose for me right now is Pincha Mayurasana (forearm stand), which is also the pose I’m looking to advance in. Finding more and more moments of staying up and afloat as I practice each day. Main thing I’m working on is to not arc my back but to tightly knit my ribs in and protract my shoulders hard!" Q: How would you describe your classes? BABETTE: "Energetic. Dynamic. Challenging. Lots of shifting between planes. I definitely utilize the entire mat! I keep it flowing, as I like to challenge the mind as much as the body." Q: What have you missed the most from quarantine lockdown? BABETTE: "Spending in real life time with my friends. In-studio yoga classes. Being in the city. I live and now teach from my home in Brooklyn." Q: Have you picked up hobbies/interests during lockdown? BABETTE: "Cooking! It’s been so great being able to prepare each meal myself without having to grab things on the go. Also, a new found love for plants -- As you’ll see in my classes! I’ve also had a lot more time to read books and listen to audio books, which I have been doing a lot." Q: Do you like working out at night, or during the day? Time you like to practice? BABETTE: "I enjoy a good awakening yoga practice in the early morning but evening sessions can be so juicy though! I love running and doing my other workouts at night." Q: Standing one-legged poses or arm balances? Why? BABETTE: "Ai! Tough question.. Both are so fundamental to a well-rounded practice. But recently I’ve been really enjoying a lot of leg balances - they require such a steady focus, you can’t force leg balances with sheer strength, you have to find a happy place between applying that strength and a keen receptive buoyancy. Having a strong leg balance practice stabilizes body and mind; I feel less likely to get thrown off when it comes to life off the mat." Also, check out Babette's website, click HERE! “We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond.” Trying to find a connection with yourself and others can be a challenge almost a year into studio closures. The stress of day-to-day life combined with the bumps on the road of life can cause mental anguish. What we must not sacrifice or compromise is our ability to exercise regularly, practice yoga, meditate and find a sense of community by taking live classes online, regardless of how busy our schedules may get or any other obstacles that may prevent us from sticking to our mental and physical health.
Not taking the time necessary for oneself can lead to spiritual conflict, feeling sluggish or anxiety as we move further from our true selves to conform to the current world view. This week we loaded the schedule with a crew of teachers that are the remedy to any contention or strife we may be dealing with. And as the Spring weather approaches, expect our schedule to expand to in-person outdoor classes; in Queens and Manhattan. NAMASTE, Victor Cotto www.YogaWithVictor.com Instagram: CottoVic Facebook: Yoga With Victor - Vicyasa™ What's up, Yogis? Hope your entry into 2021 has been safe and healthy. As we approach our one-year of virtual programming, it's a great pleasure to announce new additions to the team this week. What was one teacher on the platform has turned into a crew of amazing instructors delivering mind/body wellness daily! This 'Teacher Feature' spotlights Sonic Yoga alum and my colleague at Earth Yoga NYC, Babette Godfrey.
Get to know Babette a bit below with part-one of our fun Q&A. You can also follow her on Instagram: @babgod. QUESTION: What is your favorite yoga pose/why? BABETTE: "Sirsasana A! Headstand, without a doubt. It’s incredibly grounding and draws my focus completely to my breath and the present moment; it truly embodies the essence of yoga." Q: What is your least favorite pose right now/why? BABETTE: "Right now that would be Halasana (Plow pose) or Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulderstand). I have been practicing and teaching these two so often lately that I’m starting to develop a spot of callus at the nape of my neck! Which is probably a good thing. :)" Q: What lessons from the yoga mat have you applied off your mat? BABETTE: "That it’s possible to feel uncomfortable or challenged but that I don’t have to be so reactive to it. Patience. Dedication. Releasing expectations." Q: Do you have a guilty pleasure/binged watch anything etc., during quarantine? BABETTE: "The Crown. The Queen’s Gambit. This Is Us." Q: What is your post-class meal craving? BABETTE: "Something truly nourishing. No snacks, I need a real meal haha. Definitely something with carbs!" Check out Babette's debut class on the platform on Sunday January 31, at 1:00 pm! Part 2 of her Q&A... coming soon! "Unity to be real must stand the severest strain without breaking." The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are a compilation of verses that serve as a guide to attain wisdom and self-realization through your yogic journey. The word 'sutra' means to 'thread.' And to combine together and unite is to Yoga.
When we practice together, we are in our yoga-state. When we focus, harness our potential, overcome challenges, learn to make better choices, get in tune with our body and mind and how to process information, we scratch the surface of the wisdom of the verses within the Yoga Sutras. As we approach almost a full year practicing virtually, adapting and continuing to integrate ourselves and stay threaded within the community, we have learned how to implement the principles, techniques, and practices to become functional in this evolving world. That is powerful and inspiring... and that is why yoga has survived for thousands of years and will continue moving forward. We will continue to move forward as well and strive in our own glory! Karen Hyland, Josh Mathew-Meier and Erin Giordano are back this week for some yoga flow and interval training! This week we welcome Babette Godefroy to the team, as she'll lead a Sunday afternoon session in our efforts to expand the schedule on weekends. Guess who's back? Dina Ivas and Becca Pace will grace the platform on Saturday and Sunday. Subscribers, stay tuned to changes to our hot in-person sessions in the coming weeks. And don't forget to leave a review on our YELP page (CLICK HERE). We'll pluck another winner for a prize on our platform to those that leave reviews. #Namaste YOGA AT OHHHMMM VIRTUAL SCHEDULE: (HOT IN-PERSON, Outdoor Classes/Events this week for active subscribers only - times and days not indicated on schedule) MONDAY -- 1/25/2021
