Poses like backbends can help awaken, legs up the wall regulates circulation and twists nourish the spine and internal organs. Becca Pace: Well, I’m not officially a yogi, but I love me some down dog! I always tend to be tight in my hamstrings and upper back, and this pose hits all the right spots. Plus, the varieties of movement that can be done in this pose make me (and my joints!) very happy! Q: What is your least favorite pose right now/why? Becca: Pigeon. :-( I carry loads of stress in my hips and IT band, so I know I need me some of this...it just borderline is torture for me, so I don’t do it as much as I know I should. Q: What lessons from the yoga mat have you applied off your mat? Becca: Acceptance. I am learning to do my best at being okay where I am in the now. Q: Do you have a guilty pleasure/binged watch anything etc., during quarantine? Love and light, Victor “If every day is an awakening, you will never grow old. You will just keep growing.” As the weather gets colder and we begin to store away for the Winter and more time in stricter quarantine, we should become more introspective of our bodies & notice when the mental body imposes movements that may be 'right or wrong' or 'safe or unsafe' and go back to being curious, but still building trust. Allow your yoga practice to become an act of love -- build intimacy with your own breaths, pause to allow the poses to sink instead of "flowing" in and out of them haphazardly and allow the stillness to settle. You know you are embodying the practice if the mind is content and you are connecting to the 'now.'
Yoga is a wonderful invitation to turn inward, and gives us the tools to discover our inner wisdom. It is way more powerful, infinitely stronger to hold poses, practice with discipline, align yourself and become more aware of how we are moving, rather than thinking "fast" = power or that multiple chaturangas with poor alignment, or moving without awareness equates to a strong practice. It doesn't. And it shows in how we move and how we think we are moving. Commit to keep growing and learning about yourself... not repeating the same thing over and over and over. As we awaken... we get stronger. Hand weights are optional, and you'll get a cardio awakening in this up-tempo class. SCHEDULING Thanks to all who filled out the survey sent in recent weeks. The data collected was important in creating future scheduling and programming on the network. By a wide margin, subscribers have indicated that 7am classes are tops, while mid-morning slotting isn't desirable or likely to be attended. And we have seen that in the attendance. Moving forward, we will play with earlier starting times (i.e., 6:30am this week) and steering away from slotting that have not been well attended. As we get more subscribers and this network grows, we'll revisit adding more classes throughout the day. Please support our teachers by attending everyone's class and know that our efforts to create a functional schedule will be priority, but we also need consistency and the reason we create a schedule is so we can ALL have accountability, a sense of structure and normalcy during these days of volatility.
