Down to Earth Market & Makara Studio have a great joint effort to bring wellness to Cooper Park in Brooklyn. The market, which features seasonal fruits and vegetables, pantry staples, plants and other great items, will be open from 11:00AM to 4:00PM. Here's a Google Maps LINK for directions.
The Yoga class will begin at noon. Bring your own mats, towels, water bottles -- friends & family -- and make sure to wear comfortable clothing. Try to get there 10-15-minutes prior to sign-up, as we'll meet in-front of the farmers' market stand, or join the group of yogis with their mats rolled out inside the park. Remember, these classes are donation based, and will be weekly on Sundays (weather permitting) through September 28. See you there, Vic

Friday the 13th... big deal! Torrential showers... whatever! The yogis in Brooklyn came out in full-force to Makara Studio for a 90-minute class that was... DA BOMB! It was a sweaty house today, as a crew of eager and fierce practitioners moved with consciousness, smiled and started their weekend right by hitting-up the weekly donation-based class I lead. Chair pose with a grin, back-bends with contentment and a savasana that was pure bliss. I want to THANK everyone who showed up today and supported this hidden gem. Makara Studio is a great place to plop your mat down and get your asana mojo on. Join me every Friday at Makara and Sundays at Cooper Park to start and end your weekends properly. What's up, peeps? Enjoying the weather? Holla' at me and let me know what's up with you… either stop by the Facebook page or drop me a message here on the site to see what's popping. FYI: Added two more classes to the schedule… Saturday June 28: Hot Vinyasa at The Yoga Room in Astoria: it's a community class, so it'll be $10 or you can use your active class card. Saturday July 5th: Hot Vinyasa at The Yoga Room in Astoria. The same story applies for this class. Both will be one-hour and begin at 4:30 pm. Major thanks to the AM New York periodical for picking-up and adding to their health calendar the weekly donation yoga class I lead on Sundays at Cooper Park in Brooklyn, in association with Makara Studio and Down to Earth Market. One typo though… it's not on Saturday. Here's a link to today's online edition of the article: http://www.amny.com/lifestyle/health/health-calendar-june-11-17-1.8399723 I'm so glad they've been promoting it. But spread the word… we hit the park up on Sunday. Hope to see you on the mat, Vic Yipeee… Did I just say that? Yup! In today's edition of the AM New York, the class I lead EVERY Sunday at Cooper Park, in association with Makara Studio and Down to Earth Markets, has been featured on their Health Calendar. As the newspaper stated, donations are suggested and we'll be there every Sunday at noon (weather permitting). For this vinyasa style class, bring your own mats, towels, water bottles and sensibility for fun and exploration. Oh ... bring a friend or two as well. Come get your asana practice on with me outdoors, then pick up some great seasonal products at the market afterwards. Thanks to AMNY for featuring the class and giving my website a shout-out. Here's the online link to the story: http://www.amny.com/lifestyle/health/free-fitness-classes-in-nyc-june-4-10-1.8323147 See you Sunday. Peace, Vic It's ironic that no matter where I go, I meet people from Brooklyn. I'm proud of that heritage. It's where I'm from, who I am. Join me every Friday at 4PM at Makara Studio for a 90-minute Vinyasa Yoga class. The address: 164 Montrose Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11206 Drop-in classes are $15 and a 10-class card with no expiration is $140. The studio features a full schedule of Ashtanga, Pilates, open-level Yoga classes and special events/workshops. Every Sunday, in conjunction with Down to Earth Markets, the studio hosts a donation based class at Cooper Park. See you in Brooklyn! - Vic Saturday, we were rocking it indoors … Sunday we were saluting the sun outdoors. It was a great weather weekend that involved loads of asana practicing yogis breathing, moving, sweating and smiling. Thanks to everyone who came out to The Yoga Room (Astoria) and ripped through a sweaty 75-minute vinyasa class. Yogis from that house bring it all the time, and The Yoga Room has been a 'home away from home' for me. So the peeps that practice there are like family. On Sunday, the grounds at Cooper Park provided the perfect environment for an invigorating Yoga class. It was wonderful to meet new friends and get the outdoor Yoga season going. FYI: we'll be there every Sunday at noon. It's a donation based class, brought to you by Down to Earth Markets and Makara Studio.
