“Spring is the best life coach: It gives you all the energy you want, all the positive thoughts you wish and all the boldness you need!” ― Mehmet Murat ildan
A guru does not have to have a long beard, an ancient visage, wear mala beads and sit in lotus position. The word "Guru" means remover of darkness. You can be your own Guru. Our physical yoga practice teaches us to be so; to be attentive, focused, listen, feel and cultivate healthy habits on our mat, so we can be functional off our mat.
For thousands of years, those seeking to fully realize themselves would do so through the combination of sadhana, spiritual practice like meditation, yoga, etc. and sitting at the feet of someone further down the path than themselves.
The more we practice; meditation, yoga etc., the more we become inquisitive about what is happening within. Within your mind. And your spirit. This is the start of the journey within and tapping into your inner guru.
There is such peace, such connection, love, fulfilment and freedom that are possible when we open ourselves to peeling away layers and trusting the self. At first, we may find ourselves disoriented. Confused by the new landscape and rules for being. But with every inquiry, and every choice in the direction of truth, we build upon the foundation of trust in our higher self. And from here, we realize the gifts we were meant to have.
We will encounter struggles, fears, suffering... all a part of the revealing of truth. It is all ok. But trust! Trust you are not being punished nor deemed unworthy when things don’t go "our way."
When we choose to trust the inner guru, you will find it much easier to stay true to yourself. To our inner Wisdom. Because you know deep down that all is meant as a support for our journey. Everything that falls away and that comes into being is part of the whole.
